The technical challenges
behind carbon intelligence
Our platform processes thousands of data points, from utility invoices and travel receipts to supplier questionnaires and EPC certificates, and converts them into accurate, auditable emission calculations. Building this requires a modern stack that balances speed with scientific rigour.
On the AI side, we develop models that extract structured emission data from unstructured documents, estimate footprints from natural-language descriptions, and generate carbon reduction plans prioritised by impact. On the infrastructure side, we run real-time calculation engines that apply the correct emission factors across multiple frameworks, including GHG Protocol, CSRD, CDP, and SBTi.
Our Scope 3 supplier outreach system is one of the most technically interesting areas of the product. It automates the entire data-collection funnel, provisioning free supplier accounts, presenting only the fields relevant to each supplier's industry, validating submissions with AI, and chasing non-responders with intelligent reminder sequences.
